Known Application
PBS (Polybutylene Succinate) is an eco-friendly material with excellent biodegradability, capable of breaking down into water and carbon dioxide under natural composting conditions, thus reducing environmental pollution. It also exhibits high thermal stability with a melting point of approximately 100°C, making it suitable for injection molding and other heat-sensitive applications. Additionally, PBS offers outstanding mechanical properties, including excellent flexibility, tensile strength, and impact resistance, comparable to polyethylene (PE).
PBS is highly processable, easily molded through conventional thermoplastic methods such as injection molding, extrusion, and thermoforming. It is also compatible with other biodegradable polymers like PLA and PBAT, enabling enhanced mechanical performance or cost reduction. Furthermore, PBS has excellent water vapor permeability and moderate oxygen barrier properties, making it an ideal choice for packaging applications.
Primarily used in injection molding, packaging (including food packaging, cosmetic bottles, and pharmaceutical containers), tableware, disposable medical supplies, agricultural films, pesticide and fertilizer controlled-release materials, and biomedical polymer materials.
