Application
1. Adenosine is a vasodilator and also can be used as antiarrhythmic drug. The main indications include: (1) Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia. For the treatment of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia participation in the atrioventricular node reentry ,Adenosine is very effective as a drug of choice for treatment. Because of its short half-life and insignificant side effects, it can also be used when verapamil is ineffective or contraindicated. (2) Differential diagnosis of ventricular tachycardia (3) Adjuvant of thallium-201 myocardial perfusion imaging 2. Adenosine is used for the synthesis of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), Adenosine 5'-monophosphate(AMP), Vidarabine, coenzyme A and other important intermediates. 3. Adenosine can stimulate hair growth to reduce hair loss.
